Our Nursery Facilities

Building confident learners through Awe and Wonder

At The Redbrick Day Nursery, Welford Road, Northampton, we provide a carefully planned early years environment designed to support children’s learning, wellbeing and development from babies through to preschool. Our practice is guided by our ethos of learning through awe and wonder, where children are encouraged to explore, question and discover the world around them through meaningful experiences, rich environments and supportive relationships.

Our nursery is thoughtfully resourced with a wide range of natural and open-ended materials, enabling children to learn through both planned experiences and spontaneous, child-led play. Our indoor and outdoor environments are designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and independence, giving children the time and space to explore and make sense of the world around them.

We follow a nurturing home-from-home routine for all children, working closely with families to ensure continuity of care. This supports children to feel safe, secure and settled, helping them to build strong relationships with familiar adults.

We recognise that starting nursery is an important milestone. To support this transition, we offer individual settling-in sessions tailored to each child’s needs, allowing them to build confidence and familiarity with the nursery environment at their own pace.

Inside the nursery, children are welcomed into a spacious and carefully organised environment that supports learning, comfort and a sense of belonging. The main playroom leads to a range of dedicated spaces, including a messy room, baby room, toddler room, pre-school room and an undercover garden, which provides sheltered access to the outdoor learning areas.

Our baby room offers a calm and nurturing space with age-appropriate equipment and resources. Babies are supported through sensory experiences, songs, stories and responsive care, while following their own individual routines. Bottles and solid foods are prepared on the premises to meet each baby’s specific needs and stage of development.

Older children benefit from a free-flow approach, allowing them to move confidently between learning spaces and choose from a wide range of activities. This supports independence, decision-making and a genuine love of learning as children follow their interests with guidance from experienced practitioners.

A snack station is available throughout the day, offering fresh fruit and vegetables and encouraging healthy eating habits. Children also enjoy a freshly prepared cooked lunch and pudding each day, all home cooked on the premises in a relaxed and sociable environment.

Our outdoor learning environment at The Redbrick Day Nursery, Welford Road, Northampton, is a generous and thoughtfully designed space that plays a vital role in children’s early years education. Children have daily access to the outdoors, where they are encouraged to explore, investigate and learn through hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

Part of the outdoor space is dedicated to a growing area, where children are supported to plant, care for and grow their own food. These experiences help children develop an understanding of nature, responsibility and where food comes from, while nurturing curiosity and a sense of achievement.

The outdoor area includes a natural digging space and mud kitchen, supporting sensory exploration and imaginative play. Features such as the pirate ship and large playhouse encourage role play, storytelling and collaboration, helping children to develop communication skills and confidence.

A separate, secure garden is available for babies and toddlers, designed to support early exploration in a safe and nurturing outdoor environment. Older children benefit from a large construction area that promotes problem-solving, teamwork and physical development.

Sand play is available both indoors and outdoors, offering consistent sensory learning opportunities throughout the year and across all seasons.

Healthy nutrition is an important part of daily life at The Redbrick Day Nursery, Welford Road. Our on-site kitchen is led by a dedicated chef who prepares fresh, balanced meals and snacks each day.
