The eligibility criteria for Working Parents is available on the Government website. It is parents’ responsibility to check their eligibility through HMRC and they must provide an eligibility code to us, for checking with the Local Authority. This code will then need renewing every 3 months. These codes apply to the term after your child’s birthday.
We encourage all families looking to take up funded spaces to enquire as soon as possible as specific sessions may fill up fast.
From April 2025 the Government require us to show how we deliver funded hours and the charges around these in a more detailed way, therefore we have altered the way that we display our pricing. Nearly all of our children are now funded, and these hours are delivered completely free of charge to our parents We do however charge for additional hours around these where parents choose to attend our full days. It has always been a complex matter to calculate the way funded hours work with paid for hours, consumables, food charges, and other activity-related costs. We have broken down these charges into what we consider to be the simplest way for parents to understand these, and the base charges are in the tables below. If you are not eligible for funding, then we invite you to talk to us as we also offer non-funded private discounts on these hourly rates. We also have fully funded days available at either no cost or for the cost of food and the enhancements, which consist of the consumables we use and the activities that we offer, all of which are detailed further below.

Our places are available for 51 weeks of the year and these prices are charged for every day, including bank holidays as we have an equalised billing system. This is to allow our nursery software to evenly distribute your fees each month. If we did not do it this way, then the daily fees would be higher per day and your billing would be very different in each month. As an example, if we did not charge equally for each day the consumables and activities daily rate might be £8 to £9 per day.
What are Consumables?
Consumables are everything that we use in the nursery to provide for the children’s care needs. As the name suggests this for those things that we use and need replacing from time to time. This might include tissues, toilet roll, food play, cooking materials, science resources, although some of the latter items may also count as activities. It is hard to separate every item individually.
What are Activities Charges?
As the name suggests this is for many of the activities that we do with children because they enhance and enrich their experience of life. This includes buying in resources for specific religious or international festivals such as Easter, Diwali, Passover, Eid, Christmas, Chinese New Year to name but a few. These costs also cover such things as the gifts we might send home for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, Christmas, Valentines day and many others. It also includes the local trips out that we do, the provision of activities such as yoga, music, football & drama that enrich the children’s learning and development. These items vary from week to week and term to term. However, we do ensure all children take part in a large variety of these and we have an averaged daily charge to cover these.
Do I have to pay these charges?
No, you are free to opt-out of all or some additional charges. You are at liberty to request that your child does not take part in any additional activities or use the resources bought under the consumables section and we will do our best to exclude them from these things. However, as these are all items that sit clearly outside of the EYFS provision we also ensure that their basic EYFS provision is not compromised in any way. Where you choose to opt-out of all or some of the additional charges you will need to adhere to our Food Provision Policy and the Consumables and Activities Contribution Policy, copies of which can be found on www.theredbrickdaynursery.co.uk
Because the government want us to be completely transparent about all our charges over and above the funded hours then this naturally makes for a complex set of tables that allow us to detail every aspect of our charges to you so that you can understand which hours are funded and which hours you need to pay for. You can work out any of our prices by calculating and adding together the relevant component parts. You can choose the hours based on the offers we have in our tables below and then add in the daily activities, food and consumables to suit.
Where you buy into all of our services, to provide your child with the very best start in life, we offer a range of fully inclusive packages which are shown in their own tables as monthly prices. It is entirely your choice if you wish to build your own package – which you must work out for yourself or choose one of our pre-priced packages. In many cases you will pay less for an all-inclusive package – just as you do in many aspects of the world nowadays.
Working parents of children aged under 12 can use Tax-Free Childcare, through the childcare service account, to pay for registered childcare. The Government top-up the money that parents pay into the account i.e. for every £8 parents pay in, the Government will add an additional £2. Parents can received £2,000 per child per year, or £4,000 if disabled. Visit https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare to find out more about eligibility and the scheme. We advise parents to ensure they have read all the advice in relation to what is best for them and whether they should move from an existing scheme. The Redbrick Day Nursery will not be held responsible in any way if your choice results in changes to your eligibility for other benefits or childcare costs support.
The Best Start in Life website will guide you through your options. It provides access to the application process for the childcare accounts and the 30-hour entitlement - make sure you are ticking the correct boxes for you. Eligibility for all this and the 30 hours is determined by HMRC, and parents should check their own eligibility through the relevant government website. The website Best Start in Life offers you the opportunity to compare what is best for your family.
Flexible Funding Childcare & Education Offers for All Ages
The Government funding provides for 15 or 30 funded hours a week. It must be remembered though that this is only for 38 weeks of the year. This therefore equates to 570 hours or 1140 hours per year and we stretch our funding over the 51 weeks we are open. We often refer to these as the 15 or 30 offer and use these references in the tables below, however in reality, as the tables below show, when stretched these hours become less per week.

In our nurseries we provide parents with a range of sessions to choose from. This includes attending for Just 15/30 hours or choosing a Flexible 15/30 hour option. We then allocate your funded entitlement hours into those sessions.
If you wish to attend the sessions of your choice over the whole year, then our tables below indicate the fees payable based on your chosen pattern of your attendance. We do not mix patterns so you will need to find the best pattern to fit your needs.
We mainly offer funding as an enhanced stretched offer over 51 weeks. Where parents chose to access an Enhanced Flexible 15/30 Offer, over and above the basic entitlement funded provision, then we include all the consumables, activities and food charges identified above and package these up into a discounted price. These services include, but are not limited to, extra hours, breakfasts, snacks, lunches, teas, trips outside the nursery, parties for children, equipment or gifts that the children take home such as for Mother’s or Father’s Day and other such specific activities that the nursery buys in specifically for children. You are not obliged to take up these additional services and you can access your funded only hours at NIL COST over 51 weeks as shown in the tables below. Any additional hours and services outside our funded delivery are charged for and when attending all year round then we ensure your fully free hours are shown on your invoice as a monthly number of hours at no cost. This equates to your ‘free’ entitlement from the government, and the balance relates to the fees for your remaining enhanced services, as shown in the Fees List below.
To claim funding parents must complete The Redbrick Parental Flexible Funding Agreement and the Local Authority Funding Agreement. Please see our Admissions Policy for further information.

These sessions are offered as stand-alone sessions and cannot be taken in conjunction with other sessions.
For all these sessions attendance is monitored to ensure the full government entitlement is being used effectively. Should we find the entitlement is being underused (because you have collected early or arrived late) you may be subject to additional charges if funding is removed by the local authority. We ask that you respect the times booked and do not attempt to claim these government funds fraudulently.
Payment of your Administration Fee guarantees your place and entitles you to our programme of Settling Visits as per our Settling Policy. We always recommend children attend at least one settling visit to allow them to familiarise themselves with their carers and surroundings. No AdministrationFee is required for Funded Only children, and they will take their settling visits during their usual funded hours.
We reserve the right to charge a Refundable Deposit of £75 for Just 15 or Just 30 places.
Nursery fees are payable for 51 weeks of the year, which includes for up to 2 training days and bank holiday closures, with the exception of Christmas week. Six weeks’ notice of leaving is required, or six week’s fees in lieu of notice may be paid. For children receiving grant funding this notice period is extended to up to one term’s notice, but should always be at the end of a term
Allocation of Places
Our Admissions Policy outlines in further detail our allocation of places
Snacks, Lunch & Refreshments
Breakfast, mid-morning and afternoon snacks, hot lunches with a pudding and refreshments are included within the daily fees.
Parents may supply packed lunches if they prefer but no reduction in Fees is allowed where this is included in the price for the place. You must adhere to our Provision of Policy. Where we have a severe allergy, we reserve the right to refuse foods and ask you to have our hot lunch.
Where additional hours are required, these may be booked at £15 per hour unless otherwise priced within the Schedule of Fees. A minimum of 1 hour is charged.
Where you are late in collecting your child from any session and you have not pre-booked additional hours then a fee of £15.00 per 15 minutes will be charged.
Invoicing
Invoices are produced each month based on these prices. All invoices are now emailed to parents. It is your responsibility to inform us if an invoice has not been received. Late payment charges will still be applied if payment is not on time, irrespective whether you have received an invoice or not.
All fees are due by the 1st of the month. Where fees are not paid by this date a Late Payment Charge of £25 per child per month will be applied. This is detailed further in the Registration Form & Parental Agreement. We follow a strict policy to recover any debts that may result in exclusion if payments are not made on time.

11. Acceptances
a. The above terms and conditions are considered to be fair and reasonable. In the event of any term found by a Court of Law to be unreasonable then the clause shall be removed but the agreement shall remain in full force and effect.

This agreement must be signed by all persons with Parental Responsibility and/or those who are accepting responsibility for paying fees. Your childcare may only commence once payment of the first invoice, or a minimum of one month’s fees has been made.
