Job Description: Qualified Early Years Educator

Responsible to: Nursery Manager 

 

Role Purpose 

 

 Adhering to the Policies & Procedures of the Red Brick Day Nursery, and compliance with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and the Welfare Requirements. 

 To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately – in accordance with child protection and whistleblowing policies.

 To be reliable and punctual, maintaining staffing ratios at all times.

 To attend reasonable out-of-working-hours activities, including training, staff meetings, parents evenings and special events.

 To communicate effectively, sharing information, participating in meetings, inductions and 1-2-1s

 To be aware of the high profile of The Red Brick Day Nursery and refrain from irresponsible behaviour that could impact the company’s commercial success.

 Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in the nursery. 

 To be a role model to the children. Be able to showcase high quality practice with regards to individual and group work with children, 

 To support and actively promote the safety, security and well-being of all children, staff and visitors at all times. 

 To work alongside the Nursery Management Team to help the nursery to reach and maintain an Outstanding grading with Ofsted. 

 To embrace, understand and promote Wade Childcare Services and to understand the role you play as a member of the team in providing high levels of care and education.

Performance Requirements 

 

 Formulate and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area, seek guidance from room leaders when needed.

 Work with parents/carers of all children to achieve full integration in the Setting;

 Engage with all staff within the team; promote positive relationships for children

 Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members;

 Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment and such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the manager;

 To ensure good standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and be responsible for the Health and safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children;

 Record accidents on an accident form ensuring that the room leader on duty is made aware of any accidents.

 To ensure confidentiality of information received;

 To develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents/carers/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring needs

 Ensure child is collected by someone known to Setting.

 To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring that all staff and volunteers observe Setting policies and procedures to keep children safe from harm.

 To complete tasks directed by senior members of staff

 Be an advocate to promote our company ethos ensuring the nursery and the Company is seen as an ‘Employer of Choice’ internally and externally.

 Promote equality and diversity within the nursery, challenging any behaviour which does not support our Inclusive Practice and Equal Opportunities Policy. 

 

 

 

 

Childcare

 

 Reflect on daily practice and identify areas for continual improvement. 

 To ensure that all children are treated as individuals and supporting this through the approach to planning in line with the EYFS. 

 To work in partnership to ensure standards are continuously being met in line with Ofsted requirements and the EYFS. 

 To support on all aspects of inclusive practice, behaviour management and special educational needs within your team, liaising with the appropriate representatives. 

 To support effective partnerships working with children, families and the wider community. Continuously looking at ways to build relationships with external agencies. 

 

Environments

 

 To ensure that you have an excellent understanding and have a working knowledge of all aspects of Health & Safety e.g. Risk Assessments, COSHH etc. and to take an active responsibility for Health & Safety Policies and Procedures at nursery.

 To support the extended management team and nursery staff team to ensure all paperwork is completed correctly. 

 Check premises daily and remove or action any potential hazards. 

 To ensure the health & safety of all staff, children and visitors by ensuring policies on security and safety are adhered to at all 

 Support and develop an enabling environment that is child-led, using both indoor and outdoor spaces effectively. 

 To promote good hygiene practices in the nursery and maintain high standards of cleanliness. 

 

 

 

 

 

General

 

 Abide by the Wade Childcare Services Ltd Code of Conduct and all other Policies and Procedures at all times, maintaining a professional approach, behaviour and confidentiality at all times. 

 Act as a representative of your nursery and the Company, promoting a professional image at all times. 

 To go about your duties with a positive and enthusiastic attitude - to be confident, hardworking and conscientious, and at all times promote good practice. 

 To have awareness of any legislation relating to your role. 

 Show a willingness to undertake additional roles to meet the needs of the nursery, children and colleagues. 

 Keep your job knowledge up to date through Company and external training, showing a commitment to professional development. 

 Support other nurseries where necessary. This may mean working at different sites to support other settings and managers. 

 Any other duties as required by the Nursery Manager.

We offer care to children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.  Out of school club including pick up and drop off at local primary schools
